A group of employees who work at LD Celulose met in a sponsorship campaign to make the Christmas of 120 elderly people in the region more joyful. On Tuesday morning, 22, two teams formed by professionals from LD Celulose, and from partners GPS and Máfer, delivered the donations to four Long Term Care Institutions for the Elderly.
The benefited places shelter elderly people in a situation of social vulnerability. Two of them are in the city of Araguari: the Shelter for the Elderly Cristo Rei, with 33 residents, and the São Vicente de Paulo Community, where 44 people live. The other two institutions are the Home of the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Abadia, in Romaria, which has 19 residents, and the São Vicente Community Center, in Estrela do Sul, where 24 people live.
Each participant in the sponsorship campaign chose one of the residents of these homes to present new clothes and shoes. Geriatric diapers were also collected, which will help supply the institutions' stocks throughout 2021.
“These gifts are going to be very important for the joy of our residents, who are not receiving visitors in this pandemic moment. The four entities that received the donations are Institutions that rely on donations from civil society to maintain their expenses. Abrigo Cristo Rei is an independent institution that has served elderly people in Araguari since the 1950s. The São Vicente de Paulo Community and the São Vicente Community Center are part of the São Vicente de Paulo Society, a voluntary organization present in 153 countries . The Home of the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Abadia, as the name shows, is administered by the Sanctuary itself, a religious institution that has existed for 150 years.

About LD Celulose
LD Celulose S.A. is a joint venture between the Austrian Lenzing and the Brazilian Duratex, formed to set up one of the largest dissolving wood pulp plants in the world.
